World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can boost the value of certain numeric stats on armor, weapons and rings. They also increase bonuses such as damage from PvE and crit chance.
For instance a weapon that has the upgrade template ending in % will suffer 3damage to attack each time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).
The cost for upgrading items increases when they reach the current level of the item. The cost rises with item's level.
Components
Upgrade components can be added to trinkets, armor, and weapons in order to give them a boost in stats or an extra effect. These can be obtained by crafting, buying from vendors or trading with other players or looting. Some upgrades also have special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can only be used on equipment that has a slot. The item must be at least upgraded to blue level before a component can be used. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used once and can't be used multiple times or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and Enrichments are a kind of upgrade component that can be used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and Ascended equipment, as well in some items that aren't ascended. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging gear that is ascended or by completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or obtained from NPCs. Each completed Upgrade Recipe earns a number of Technology Points. These points can be used to level the item, and when enough are earned, the upgrade will be claimed and the additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When the player upgrades an item it is replaced with a new item of the same kind. The same armor can be transformed into an weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item also comes with its own bonus. This can be a downside in that the item could increase in price even if you don't require it.
Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled, if the player has enough reroll tokens in order to do this. This will cause the item to be exchanged for a new one, with a level 1 base and a different set of bonuses. This can be useful however it shouldn't be done often as it could waste resources.
Some upgrades can be rerolled several times, increasing their value and giving players the ability to alter their gear. item upgrades of this is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an advantage when a player repeatedly enters and leaves the water (or is able to swim like a dolphin). Requirements
